Times Square Studios at 1500 Broadway in New York City, home to national television shows like Good Morning America, wanted to replace an aging LED screen and outdated coarse resolution display with a new state-of-the-art media façade.
The new curvilinear display consists of 12 custom designed ribbons that allow the display to function as one-unit or individual bands. With high-definition television now the standard, ABC wanted the ability to broadcast live shots of the studio and have the displays appear as crisp as their high-definition signal.
The retrofit increased the resolution by a factor of 25, over a 3,200 square foot surface, so that millions of TV viewers would see an HD broadcast quality image on the LED display, and provided the client with significant cost savings.
